Last Will of John Bainbridge
Jamaica. St Ann.
This is the last will and testament of me, John Bainbridge of said parish and island. Imprimis I desire all my just debts to be fully paid as soon as possible after my decease. Secondly I leave and bequeath to my five daughters and son begotten of the body of Sarah Gabaddon the sum of twenty five pounds per annum to each of my said children. Also, I leave and bequeath to the said Sarah Gabaddon the like annual sum of twenty five pounds. To my son Edward I also leave twenty five pounds per annum, and to Sarah Bainbridge a free brown girl ten pounds per annum. And all the rest of my property of what kind so ever I leave and bequeath to my three beloved daughters Margaret, Jane, and Sarah Bainbridge share and share alike, and I hereby authorise and empower my executor and his assigns whom he may nominate and appoint for that purpose to dispose of and sell and execute and grant full and sufficient conveyances for the same to any person or persons whomsoever all my Plantation and Pen called Lindale in said parish of St Ann, further with all my slaves of every description and stock there may be thereon provided, at any time he may deem it for the benefit and advantage of my said three daughters Margaret, Jane and Sarah Bainbridge. And I do hereby nominate and constitute and appoint my brother Thomas Bainbridge sole executor of this my last will and testament and guardian to the persons and estates of my children. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of December 1817
